Purchasing A Land Rover That’s A Couple Years Old Can Help You Save A Lot Of Money

New Land Rovers are very attractive especially sitting in one for the first time and yet there are good reasons to purchase one that is a couple of years old. Purchasing a new Land Rover is something I was warned against in the past by my grandmother. A Land Rover that was around the two year mark with not too much mileage is what she said I needed. Based on her reasoning, any kind of Land Rover I acquired should be operating well and if there had been anything needing attention, this would already have been Land Roverried out.

Those guidelines are something I still follow today as they are reasonable and in buying an older Land Rover there are other considerations that bring weight to this argument. I am now verify the savings that can be made any time you buy a Land Rover that has been on the road a while and yet still comparatively new.

The truth that a new vehicle’s value decreases by thousands once you have driven away from the Land Rover dealer is a factor you have maybe not thought about. It could be that you think you have bought a Land Rover that is good value for money if you paid $25,000 for instance but in reality you haven’t. As you leave behind the Land Rover lot, a new valuation of $20,000 could be the asking price for your Land Rover. Which means that in a matter of a minute or two and a few miles you just forfeited $5,000.

If you think maybe I am exaggerating, go and buy a new Land Rover. Then drive it nowhere else but straight home. Then the following day bring the Land Rover back to the dealer and ask them how much you can get for a trade in. More than likely for that $25,000 Land Rover you purchased yesterday they will only offer you $15,000 to $20,000 for the trade in value.

This has been the industry standard for many years. But now some dealerships are offering you a 100% trade in value for 30 days after you buy the Land Rover. But once those 30 days are over, you are out of that $5,000 no matter how you look at it. And when you try to sell the automobile outright you might wind up losing even more than that.

Now if you buy a Land Rover that is a couple of years old you won’t be losing that instant depreciation when you drive it off the lot. Not forgetting like my grandmother explained, any glitches the Land Rover may have, will have been resolved by then. So if you view it like that, by purchasing a pre owned Land Rover with low usage you will actually be getting more for your money than if you bought a new Land Rover at the dealership.

This is just something to keep in mind the next time you are thinking about getting a new Land Rover. Unless you object to losing out on that new Land Rover smell you can end up getting a much better deal. Details about land rover rims.
